- Hours Committed: 1200 hours/week
Goals
Our goal, via education, is to equip the next generation of leaders for an independent and stable Southern Sudan. Vocational education, civic responsibility, first aid and health education as well as agricultural techniques will be taught along with the secondary curriculum. This requires a phased approach. Phase I: Educational compound infrastructure and secondary school As currently designed, the educational compound will consist of eight classrooms, a kitchen and a teacher
Plan
Over the past 18 months, we have made measurable progress in reaching our goals: - We held a fundraiser featuring the movie 'God Grew Tired of Us' with Manute Bol speaking following the movie. This generated $13,000 toward our school. - Speaking engagements at Chicagoland area schools helped us raise $15,000 to date. We present a history of Southern Sudan, the events that led to genocide, followed by the Lost Boys telling their firsthand accounts of survival, teamwork, perseverance, and hope. -
